China: Past and present

Hosted by Dr Camila Bassi

In this lecture, Dr Camila Bassi explores the contemporary history of China, from the birth of the People's Republic to the present day, and looks at how the country has developed over time in light of changing political and social structures. She explores how knowledge of China's past is crucial for understanding its present and the long term impacts of its social, political and economic policies.

Camila is a Senior Lecturer in Human Geography at Sheffield Hallam University and researches geographies of ‘race’, ethnicity and sexuality, critical geographies, and Marxist geographies.
